Old drum
These are red drum that are 25-50+ pounds. They show up around July and can be caught into Oct. with Sept. being the best time.
Good way to catch a big fish without the long run offshore. For those who are sun sensitive, most of this fishing is done late evening and night.

Tarpon:
Best times are late July through the end of Sept. This is the ghost fish of NC sounds. Highly addictive fishing that can be red hot or a complete NOT.  I team up with several other captains to work together to keep on the fish. This is one fishery I do whether I have a charter or not. Did I say its Addictive?

.
Crabbing/site seeing trip:
Fish a crab "trotline" or pull crab pots for a basket full of crabs that you can take home. Or  just ride and look at nature and watch the sun set.
